E' situato a quota 2.610 m., sopra un dosso alle pendici settentrionali della Punta La Cuna (Konzenspitze); circondato dalle irte vette dei tremila il Rifugio Martello domina la Val Martello dall’alto del Gruppo dell'Ortles-Cevedale. Il Rifugio Martello è un punto di partenza ideale per escursioni e tour alpinistici. In inverno e primavera numerosi percorsi di sci alpinismo conducono alla scoperta della montagne circostanti.
