This Adventure started at the Vail valley bus stop due to limited parking at the Trail Head as well a 3 hour parking time limit. The free vail transportation system worked quite well and we were quickly on our way up the trail to Pitkin Lake, located right at the base of the Partner Peaks. From there we set up camp among a large herd of Mountain Goats that rushed in to greet us and frolicked around our tent ALL NIGHT! Several times they knocked down the tent as they stampeded disconcertingly close to our exposed little beds. Hearing the tramping hooves from inside the tent within feet our heads did not make for a restful night! The Goats were looking for salty human Pee so, whatever you do, DO NOT PEE ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR TENT, unless you want goats competing for it right there! The next morning we headed up the aesthetic south ridge of Partner Peak enjoying easy class 3 climbing as we neared the summit. The views were amazing and the climbing was fun but fairly loose as is characteristic of the Gore Range. From the summit we proceeded to the section of the Ripsaw Ridge that connects east and west Partner Peaks. This part of the adventure had much more difficult climbing and route finding staying near the ridge proper and will be the subject of next week's video as we work for the summit of West Partner Peak!
